HomeRetail Display BlogThe Four Principles of Successful Retail Displays

Retail DisplaysOver the years, we’ve refined our processes to determine the perfect recipe for creating eye-catching retail displays that drive brand success and sales. Thanks to our experience, we’ve discovered what works and what doesn’t, and our most successful retail displays embody these four main principles:

1.  Less is More—As you put together your retail displays, try to keep them uncluttered and simple. Although you may be anxious to show as much as you can at one time, doing this can hinder your ability to help customers identify your product with your brand.

2.  The Pyramid Effect—One effective design strategy is to place one key element at the top of your display and let the other elements “step down” from that point. This top focal point is what catches the attention of customers and ultimately makes your display interesting.

3.  Go for Odd Numbers—Odd numbers are always more pleasing to the eye than even numbers. This is because an odd number means the design is asymmetrical and keeps the eye moving. As you design your retail displays, consider using odd numbers as you put together the different elements.

4.  Repetition is Key—A powerful display has similar elements that are repeated over and over again. For example, if your brand uses a specific colour, use this colour over and over again throughout your display. Or, if you use a specific cluster of images, use this element in different ways multiple times in your display.
